Acheampong Kwasi, a pleasant and
modest person, is the Vice President of the Ghanaian Students’ Association
(GSA) Donetsk. Previously, he was the Secretary of the GSA Academic Committee.
He is an outstanding medical student at the Donetsk National Medical
University, Donetsk Ukraine.
Born into the Christian family of Mr. …Yaw Mensah (of blessed memory) and Mrs…. Mensah; the second child in a family of seven. He grew up in Bantama (Kumasi) Ghana. His father was his first role model as he taught him to believe in himself for, “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt. Other role models include (but not exhaustive): Prof. Dr. Frimpong-Boateng, Cardiothoracic surgeon, Korle-bu Teaching Hospital; Dr. Aboah, Urologist Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,Kumasi.
His father move from Kumasi (Ashanti Region)to the Western Region,where he started his primary education at Atua Krom D/C Primary School , Ahibenso Primary School (when his father was transferred) and later Arhinfo Krom Primary School, where he was a Section Leader. At the completion of his primary education , he proceeded to the Junior Secondary School (J.S.S) at Kwasarekrom. Due to his exceptional academic performance and high intellect, the teachers in the school recommended that his father send him to a school in the city where he could compete constructively with likewise brilliant students. His father, being an educationist who opted for the best, did not hesitate and promptly transferred Acheampong to Becham St. Joseph J.S.S. His intelligence shone as he sailed through his J.S.S. examinations and was subsequently admitted into Osei Tutu Secondary School to offer science. In Senior Secondary, he was a very good athlete and ran “cross-country”,”500m” and was good at Javelin. He was the Library Prefect during his third year at Osei Tutu Secondary School. He graduated with excellent grades. He has always dreamed of studying medicine, but not gaining admission into the University of Science and Technology, he applied to KATH Nursing Training College and was admitted. He was among the pioneer students of the “Diploma in Nursing” program. In the 3rd year he was selected as the School Chaplain and Nurses Christian Fellowship (NCF) president. He graduated with First Class (honors). On completion he practiced at a renowned hospital for three (3) years and resigned on gaining admission to study medicine at the Donetsk National Medical University. This was a dream come through! Here, his continued excellence in all areas of academics earned him an award of “Best Outstanding Student”. He was the coach of the Ghanaian Football Team in Donetsk, consequently his alias “Coachie”. He was also the chairman for GSA-D academic board, welfare secretary and (PEMEF ) assistant leader.
Currently he is the Pentecostal Men’s Fellowship (PEMEF) Assistant –Leader, Welfare Chairman . He is a philanthropist, teacher, care-giver and a wonderful friend to all. He is modestly ambitious and by God’s grace, has a bright future in which to achieve his dreams.
